6 months old TODAY!

Lauren is 6 months old today. It has really gone by so fast!!! She had her 6 month checkup today... shots and all. She weighs 14 pounds and 1 ounce. She still has not doubled her birth weight in 6 months!!! The doctor is not really worried because she has always been petite. She is in the 20th percentile for weight, 25th for length and 50th for head size. Our baby girl is just small and that's okay. At least she's growing.

ALTHOUGH... we are having a terrible time trying to get her to eat baby food. She is not a fan and has not been one since day one of starting (which was about 2 months ago). She pretty much spits out whatever we put in her mouth. Allow me to demonstrate:

Do you see my frustration? She has a GREAT time... but I don't think she is getting hardly anything down. The doctor told us today that if she is not doing better then we might have to see a feeding specialist. ??? Ugh... I hope Lauren gets better at eating. ANY advice would be greatly appreciated.

In other news... I was told that I was a LASIK candidate by one eye center (a very reputable one in Little Rock)... then today I went to TLC for a second opinion (just to be sure) and they tell me that they won't touch my eyes because my corneas are too thin. SO.... What were the other folks gonna do??? I am seriously disappointed, but more angry at the first place for telling me I could have it done when it apparently is NOT a good idea. So, I guess I'll try wearing contacts again if I can find some that don't make my eyes all red and bloodshot. If not then I'm just gonna spring for a really nice pair of glasses and sunglasses and call it a day.

I love Lauren

I love Lauren. I love her more than words can express. I love that she needs me more than she needs anyone. I love that I can "fix" any problem she may be having. I love that she looks for me and when she finds me she smiles. I love that when she is upset I can pick her up and she stops crying.

I don't love it at 3:45 in the morning.

I have NO idea what happened last night. She woke up and would not go back to sleep. So I put her in the bed with us and she fell asleep on my tummy. I, however, did not fall back asleep and the alarm went off at 5:00 am.

Needless to say, I am tired already. So we are killing time before we have to leave for work/school. If I leave now, I'll get there before they open. So we are sitting here. I am blogging and she is squirming in my lap.

The Desk is Here!!!

The desk is here!!! Yeah! No more typing hunched over on the floor in the living room. It's nice to have a desk in the office. Now it looks and feels like an office. Now hopefully I won't be making too many grammar errors or repeating words... I read that last post and WOW - it looks like I didn't even graduate from high school. Oh well.

In other news... I had a LASIK consult on Friday and YIPEE!!!! I am a candidate! I was not anticipating that news since I am blind as a bat. Trey had it done in December and has been more than happy with his results. So I thought... why not see if I can have it done? So, hopefully I will be able to schedule it in March. Talk about a GREAT birthday present!

Hmm... what else? Well work is going good... it's work. It's different being a supervisor. There is a lot of HR stuff to contend with. I still have a lot to learn, but the curve is getting smaller everyday.

Lauren is learning new things everyday! It's so cute. She loves to smile. She smiles at everybody! Although she doesn't smile when it comes to eating cereal. She is not loving it yet. She's not really very good at baby food in general yet. She knows how to eat from a spoon, but most of the time she just won't open her mouth for it. Although she opens WIDE when that bottle heads her way. Hopefully she will learn to like baby food.
