Lauren’s 1st Birthday Party!

Over the weekend we celebrated Lauren’s first birthday at Nina and Poppa’s house (my mom and dad). Her party was on Sunday since Trey was in our friends Will and Jessica’s wedding. (It was a beautiful wedding, by the way).
Anyway – we had lunch and then presented Lauren with her birthday cake. It was great! She was timid and very careful with it at first. Then Trey showed her how to smash her hand in the cake and she loved it! She smiled so big and laughed! THEN she went to town with it. She went straight from the high chair to the bathtub. The pictures tell a better story…

After cake she opened her presents, with a little help from Momma. Then we cleaned up quickly and hit the road back to Arkansas. We got home around 6:00 pm on Sunday evening.

Thank you Mom and Dad for hosting the party for us! Thank you Jen for bringing decorations and taking these great pictures for me! And thank you Trey for helping me with her cake! None of it was possible without you!

Happy Birthday Lauren!

Today is Lauren's 1st birthday! She won't officially be 1 until 3:13 pm, but who's counting? :)

Here are a couple of pictures of what she looked like one year ago. I'm getting teary eyed just looking at these photos. She has grown up so much, and so fast! It's amazing to me how blessed we are to have her as our daughter. We are truly blessed by our Lord.

I give up

That's it - I'm returning the newly purchased contact lenses. Our 15 year relationship is over, it's just not working out. As much as I want to wear them, they are uncomfortable and I look AWFUL. I have persistent dry and red eyes sans contacts and with them, well, it's even worse. So, I'm stuck in glasses until some medical genius can figure out how to cure my lack of sight, without corrective lenses.

It feels like I'm halfway to blind... and quite literally I might be. On the contacts scale mine were at a -7.00, and I think they only go up to -9.00.

Oh well - glasses it is, until the cataracts get big enough to operate and then I'll have some hope of getting out of these glasses. I'm sure by the time I'm 80 and have that surgery I won't care anymore... until then, I still care - even if it's vanity that makes me care. Maybe God's trying to tell me something. :)

Embarrassed

This is the second day in a row that I have gotten to work and realized that my shirt had a stain on it. Yesterday I believe it was Lauren's sticky mouth that caused the spot (note to self - administer Tylenol, then get dressed)... but today I have NO idea what this orange spot is at the bottom of my white cotton shirt. Ugh... it's been one of those weeks.

Thank goodness it's FRIDAY!!!

And HAPPY BIRTHDAY JEN!!!!

Birthdays

We have an abundance of August birthday's in my family. Here's the list:
July 30 - Niece Kennedy (I know it's not August, but it begins the August madness)
Aug. 2 - Trey's dad
Aug. 3 - my grandma
Aug. 11th - my little bro
Aug. 15th - my big sis
Aug. 21st - Lauren's birthday

For the next child I will try to plan better and not have a summer baby. :) We need a little variety to spice things up a bit.

Speaking of Birthdays - today is my little brother's birthday. Tim, if you're reading this, I LOVE YOU! And I can't believe you are 20 years old. Do you know how old I feel right now? Yikes!
